EXPRESSIVE THERAPY SESSIONS
-
One-on-one expressive therapy sessions that consist of creative activities used as an alternative to and a break from traditional "talk" therapy

-
Activities used in sessions can often be transferred as self-care activities the client can implement on their own as part of a “recovery toolbox”

-
Interventions in the form of creative “play” are designed to capture, explore, and express feelings as they are experienced. This helps the client practice mindfulness skills.

“…Laurie’s activities taught me to pay attention to the small details, showing me how my everyday behavior, when examined mindfully, gave me a deeper understanding of myself…” - Client
Sometimes getting in touch with feelings is elusive and talking is ineffective. This is when individual expressive therapy sessions using creative interventions are implemented. This approach helps bring the client into the experience of the present moment (mindfulness), allows for an alternative approach to explore and express feelings, and helps look at actions and spontaneous behavior as an inroad to thoughts and feelings.
